Deposits

At In Katharsis, each artist works independently and manages their own bookings, pricing, session structure and availability.

Deposit amounts may vary between artists, depending on the type of appointment, session length and booking required. Your chosen artist will confirm the deposit amount with you when offering an appointment.

While deposit amounts may vary, the deposit policy below applies across the studio.

Why Deposits Are Required

A deposit is required to secure your tattoo appointment.

When an appointment is offered, that time is being held specifically for you. Your artist sets that time aside, plans their schedule around it, and may turn away other clients once that appointment has been arranged.

A deposit shows respect for the artist’s time, preparation and commitment to your booking.

It also helps create a fair process for everyone, so appointment times are only held for clients who are ready to commit to the booking.

Paying Your Deposit

Your appointment is not confirmed until your deposit has been paid and accepted by your artist.

Once a suitable appointment time has been arranged, your deposit must be paid within 24 hours.

If your deposit is not received within this timeframe, the appointment time will be released and may be offered to someone else.

You will lose that appointment time if the deposit is not paid within 24 hours, unless a different timeframe has been discussed and agreed with your artist.

Any change to the 24-hour deposit timeframe is at the discretion of the individual artist.

Deposit Amounts

Deposit amounts may vary between artists.

As a general guide, deposits may depend on the artist, appointment type, tattoo size, session length and amount of preparation required.

Your artist will confirm the correct deposit amount before your booking is secured.

How Deposits Are Used

Your deposit comes off the final price of your tattoo.

For single-session tattoos, the deposit is deducted from the total cost of that appointment.

For larger or multi-session tattoos, the deposit will usually come off the final session, unless your artist has arranged otherwise with you.

Deposits Are Non-Refundable

All deposits are non-refundable.

This means that if you cancel your appointment, change your mind, do not attend, arrive too late, arrive unprepared, or fail to follow the booking requirements, your deposit may be forfeited.

Deposits are taken to secure time and cover the preparation involved in your booking.

Rescheduling and Deposits

If you need to reschedule your appointment, at least 72 hours’ notice is required.

If enough notice is given, your deposit may be transferred to a new appointment time with the same artist.

This is at your artist’s discretion.

If less than 72 hours’ notice is given, your deposit may be forfeited and a new deposit may be required to book again.

Deposits Are Not Transferable to Another Person

Deposits are attached to the client, artist and appointment they were paid for.

Deposits cannot be transferred to another person.

They also cannot be used for someone else’s tattoo, appointment or booking.

Deposits Are Not Automatically Transferable Between Artists

Each artist at In Katharsis works independently.

Because of this, deposits are not automatically transferable between artists.

If you choose to change artists after paying a deposit, this will need to be discussed directly and may require a new deposit.

Changing Your Tattoo Idea

If you significantly change your tattoo idea, size, placement or direction after your appointment has been booked, your artist may need to reschedule the appointment.

A new deposit may be required if the original appointment time is no longer suitable for the new tattoo idea or preparation required.

Small changes may be possible, depending on the artist, design and time available.

Arriving Unprepared

If you arrive unprepared and your appointment cannot go ahead, your deposit may be forfeited.

This may include arriving without valid photo ID, arriving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, being unwell, having fake tan on the tattoo area, bringing unapproved guests, or not following preparation instructions.

Please refer to the Preparation page under Client Information before your appointment, as arriving unprepared may mean your appointment cannot go ahead and your deposit may be forfeited and a
new deposit may be required to rebook.

Late Arrivals and No-Shows

If you are running late, please contact your artist as soon as possible.

If you are more than 15 minutes late without contact, your appointment may be cancelled and your deposit forfeited.

No-shows result in the loss of your deposit.

Clients who no-show may not be offered future appointments at In Katharsis.

If Your Artist Needs to Reschedule

If your artist needs to reschedule due to illness, emergency or unavoidable circumstances, your deposit will remain attached to your appointment.

Your artist will contact you as soon as possible to arrange a new appointment time.

Artist and Studio Discretion

Final decisions around deposits, transfers, rescheduling, cancellations and future bookings are at the discretion of the individual artist and the studio.

This allows each situation to be handled fairly while still protecting the time, preparation and work involved in each appointment.

Final Note

Deposits are part of creating a respectful, organised and fair booking process for both clients and artists.

When you pay a deposit, you are securing time that has been set aside specifically for you.

Thank you for understanding and respecting the time, preparation and care that goes into each tattoo appointment.
